Pub Rock Compendium
I’ve been inundated with your responses to my articles on pub rock. You lot always cease to amaze me! I’ve never heard such a lot of old toss spouted by so many sad bastards with a tale to tell!! Thank god I don’t drink in pubs any more, I’d forgotted how dismal those places are!!!
Anyway, you’ve sent in a load of brilliant pub rock band names, some old, some new, that you’ve found spattered across the expectant, upturned face of the country. It hardly seems worth the effort, since the joke’s long since worn off. But I’ve got a blog to write and forces to multiply. So here they are now:—
Double Yellow Line
Breakin’ the Ice
Compos Meantit
Smokey and the Band “It”
Rain Stopped Play
Can’t See the Wood
Slippery Slope
Blues in a Basket
Cause ‘n’ Effect
Cream of the Crop
2-up 2-down
Train of Thought
Mickey Hart and the Hartbreakers
Street Legal
Hocus Pocus
Rainy Daze
Lager than Life
Wet Weekend
Call Me a Cab
Kangaroo Caught
The Whistle and Flute Band
The Siamese Triplets
The Circuit Breakers
Blues x2
Pot Calling Kettle
Kiss and Tell
Chubby and the Locks
That’s quite enough of that. If I never hear another word about pub rock it’ll be 1000000000000000 years too soon. (Now wash your hands!!
Go now,
Ed.
